Yakult Europe, based in Almere, the Netherlands, is the European headquarters of the Yakult Group, a science-led company dedicated to gut health and wellbeing.

Our story began in 1935, when Japanese scientist Dr. Minoru Shirota developed the unique Lacticaseibacillus casei Shirota strain and created a fermented milk drink containing billions of these beneficial bacteria, making his scientific discovery accessible to everyone. This became Yakult.

For more than 90 years, we have been dedicated to advancing our understanding of the gut microbiome through research and innovation. We translate scientific knowledge into functional food and drink products, while sharing insights that help people care for their gut health every day.

Today, Yakult products are consumed in more than 40 countries and regions worldwide. Since 1994, Yakult has been produced in Almere for the Netherlands and multiple European markets.

Guided by Dr. Shirota's philosophy that prevention is better than cure and that good health should be accessible to all, we remain committed to contributing to people's health and wellbeing through science, education and innovation.
