Thowk’s story starts when co-founder Adriaan was looking for an internship abroad. While looking for an internship, he noticed how difficult it was finding high quality internship companies. After sending lots of emails, never getting responses and not having the money to hire an mediation agency (we’re students after all), he almost gave up hope of finding a dream internship abroad. Finally, after months of searching and e-mailing, he found his dream internship in Cape Town, South Africa. Adriaan felt like finding an internship abroad shouldn’t be so difficult for students and so the idea to create Thowk was born.

At Thowk, we compare student profiles with company profiles from our database. By doing so, we can match internship companies and students, without them spending hours of their valuable time, money and manpower.
