About Studio Jie Chen

Following her graduation from the Design Academy Eindhoven in 2015, Jie Chen has established herself as a freelance product designer and ceramic instructor, while concurrently developing her ceramic studio as a dynamic space for exploring clay-based designs. In 2020, Jie launched the sub-brand "seven and half" with a focus on the creation of culinary-approved ceramic ware for daily use, in addition to offering workshops and training opportunities to foster appreciation for everyday essentials.

Since 2021, Jie has been furthering her design research at the Piet Zwart Institute, WdKA, under the guidance of Master Design. Her focus has been on historical artefacts and exploring new ways to interact with them through her unique maker perspectives. By doing so, Jie has been able to develop innovative ideas that provoke interdisciplinary communication and iterations that aim to inspire new creations.
