De Stoomstichting Nederland is opgericht op 30 januari 1976. De SSN stelt zich ten doel '​..... historische, door stoom aangedreven werktuigen en transportmiddelen in bedrijfsvaardige staat te houden en te herstellen en deze zodoende voor het nageslacht te bewaren....'​ (Artikel 2 van de statuten van de SSN). ============= Stoomstichting Nederland was set up on 30 January 1976. Its aim is 'to restore historic steam driven machines and vehicles in working condition and to preserve them for future generations...'​ (article 2 of the SSN statutes).
