Hundreds of millions of tons of plastic enter the economy each year. Other than through carbon-intensive incineration, almost all of that plastic remains in the environment. The recycling industry faces significant headwinds.
The cost of producing recycled plastic is higher than virgin plastic, and environmental and human health impacts are not priced into the cost of virgin plastic.
Sea the Future works with industry to develop plastic waste sorting and recycling in developed and emerging economies, making recycled plastic the better option for industry and the environment.
