About NIIOS

The Netherlands Institute for Innovative Ocular Surgery (NIIOS) was set up as a knowledge institute for modern corneal transplantation techniques. We try to focus on practical techniques: invented today, implemented tomorrow, taught the day after tomorrow. NIIOS facilitates:

𝗡𝗜𝗜𝗢𝗦 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 & 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 (𝗥&𝗗) NIIOS R&D focuses on research related to ophthalmology. NIIOS is known and acknowledged for the design and development of innovative surgical techniques such as DLEK, DSEK, DMEK, DMET, DALK and Bowman Layer Implantation, and for medical devices such as VisionBlue, MembraneBlue, ILM-Blue, MembraneBlue Dual and the Surgicube that was designed for performing ophthalmic surgeries under sterile conditions in any clinical setting.

𝗔𝗺𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀 𝗘𝘆𝗲𝗕𝗮𝗻𝗸 𝗥𝗼𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗱𝗮𝗺 (𝗔𝗘𝗥) AER is an independent, non-profit, multi-tissue bank that is involved in the comprehensive processing and understanding of donor tissues, from receiving and preparing them to facilitating ocular surgeries. Its main specialization is the surgical preparation of transplants for advanced lamellar keratoplasty procedures such as DMEK. AER is actively engaged in research, development, and educational activities to advance the field of ophthalmic surgery.
