About Laboratory of Pediatrics Beatrix Children's Hospital UMCG NL
Our research is focused on the etiology, (early) diagnosis and pathophysiology of inherited metabolic disorders (‘inborn errors of metabolism’) and acquired, i.e., lifestyle- and age-related metabolic diseases.
To achieve our mission we have four major goals:
* Fundamental and Applied Research aimed at understanding molecular principles of metabolic health and mechanisms underlying the development of inborn and acquired metabolic diseases
* Accelerating Translational Research to convert novel insights into improved diagnostics and/or effective prevention and treatment strategies
* Advanced Teaching, to educate the next generation of (bio)medical professionals
* Generating Societal Impact, that contributes to personalised health(y ageing) for all
