Commodity waste is not a side issue in food systems. It’s one of the biggest missed opportunities.

In the cocoa industry, only the beans are used. The rest of the fruit is discarded despite being rich in sugars, flavour, and value.

At Kumasi Commodity Innovations, we are building new value chains around what the system leaves behind. We upcycle agricultural side streams into ingredients and consumer products, creating additional income for farmers while reducing waste and CO₂ emissions.

What started as a drink has grown into something larger: • A sourcing and processing system at origin (Côte d’Ivoire) • A bridge between farmers and global markets • A platform for upcycled ingredients

We are now scaling from B2C beverages into B2B ingredient supply, expanding processing capacity at origin and opening our supply chain to partners.

Because we believe the future of food is not about producing more. It’s about using what already exists — better.

Currently focused on: • Scaling value chains in West Africa • Expanding into new agricultural side streams • Partnering with FMCG and ingredient players
