Intermetzo ontstond in 2013 door een fusie tussen LSG-Rentray en Zonnehuizen. In 2010 vond er al een fusie plaats tussen de Leo Stichting Groep (LSG) en jeugdzorgorganisatie Rentray. De gefuseerde organisatie had in eerste instantie LSG-Rentray als werknaam. In 2012 nam LSG-Rentray de in faillissement verkerende antroposofische instelling Zonnehuizen over. In 2016 volgde tenslotte de bestuurlijke fusie van Intermetzo en Pluryn. Vanaf 1 december 2019 ging de organisatie verder onder één naam: Pluryn.
