The HyVent hydrothermal process is about the oxidation of dissolved or suspended components in water using an oxidizer. The oxidation reactions occur in superheated water at a temperature above the normal boiling point of water. The system is kept under pressure to avoid evaporation of water. The energy consumption is controlled by avoiding the supply of heat for latent heat of vaporization. Liquid water is necessary for most of the oxidation reactions to occur. Compounds oxidize under these conditions that would not oxidize under dry conditions at the same temperature and pressure.
Hyvents' integrated Zero Liquid Discharge approach combines our chemical and equipment knowledge to design a water re-use system that meets your specific plant needs and goals on both the mechanical and chemical side. A successful ZLD design must take into account both chemical treatment needs and advanced water treatment equipment technologies.
The HyVent process combines the processing and reclamation of spent catalysts within a single process, eliminating the multi-step and often multi-location value chain currently utilized by the petroleum refining sector. In the HyVent process, the removal of carbon and sulfur from the spent catalysts is combined with the extraction of base metals from the spent catalysts under a single hydrothermal process. The hydrothermal process is followed by recovery of the base metals via selective precipitation and filtration.
