About Atelier YIMU

We are a research and design lab. We reshape public space. We challenge the status quo.

We believe in the power of the edge. Society needs edges : places where innovation emerges and new possibilities take form. Creativity rarely comes from the center; it is born at the margins. It is the edge that sustains the center. Without it, the center loses its balance and eventually collapses. In the human body, the core is often the most vulnerable, while the edge is resilient, adaptive, and strong.

We also believe in the power of simplicity. True beauty does not lie in ornament, but in a return to essence : in something authentic, effortless, and inherently powerful. Public space follows the same principle: the closer it is to its natural condition, the more it aligns with the breath of the land, the deeper and more irreplaceable its strength becomes.

Simplicity is not a lack, it is a form of intelligence. It allows space to step back from excessive intervention and return to the fundamental relationship between people and land, between humans and nature. In such spaces, people encounter the world more intuitively, reconnect with themselves, and coexist with all living things in a more natural way.
