Alphen.NU, established in 2004, is the local social networking site of Alphen a/d Rijn, a small town of 70.000 inhabitants in the Netherlands. The websites is big for local standards and reaches a high percent of the youth with over 35.000 members. On our site, can users make a profile, talking with each other in forums, check the event agenda and watch the photo's of all parties in Alphen a/d Rijn every weekend. The users can customize their personal profiles to show their identity, and connect with their friends and have guest book to talk with each other. Since 2008 is the police ( Politie Hollands-Midden) working together with our website. You can report suspicious situations, giving tips about criminality, read police news and search for information about raping, alcohol and drugs and more. About the staff The founders of the website are: Joost Schravendeel and Gerben Straathof. Joost Schravendeel left Alphen.NU in januari 2008 to work at his own business, Nanon B.V. Gerben Straathof is currently the owner of the website. In 2009 is the website running with 39 enthusiastic volunteers.
